The book “Southern Azerbaijani folklore examples. Volume 8” has been published

The department “Southern Azerbaijani folklore” of Institute of Folklore ANAS during the 5 years of its establishment continues to make its worthy contribution to Azerbaijani folklore studies. It is estimable that during this period, the department employees have done very well in terms of research, collected rich folklore samples of Southern Azerbaijan and transferred them to the literature, as well as by transliterating the obtained print materials (Persian alphabet) and handed over this rich treasure of spirituality to the scientific community and readers.
The book “Southern Azerbaijani folklore examples. Volume 8” (Baku, Elm ve tehsil, 2019, 408 pages) is also of great importance in this regard. The head of the project is director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov, the compiler of the book is the head of the department “Folklore of South Azerbaijan” Doctor of Sciences, associate professor Matanat Mashallahgizi-Abbasova, the editor is Lala Badirova. The employees of the department such as PhD Giymat Maharramli and Sabuhi Badalov have transliterated the texts.
In the book presented from the South Azerbaijan series and about which we are talking, the readers will find examples of children’s folklore, preserved in the native language among the people in the south of Azerbaijan such as “nazlama”, lullaby, various children’s poems, children’s games, riddles, proverbs and sayings, beliefs, tongue twisters, folk medicine examples, quatrains, fairy tales, anecdotes, Tabriz poems, wedding customs, etc. are introduced. The information about the speakers, vocabulary and literature list given at the end of the book is also important.
We hope that the book will be interesting for the folklore researchers and readers.
