HEROES OF THE 44-DAY WAR: MARTYR MAJOR VUSAL VALIYEV
On the 4th of November at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS the event “Heroes of the 44-day war: martyr Major Vusal Valiyev” on the occasion of November 8-Victory Day was held. At the event the memory of the martyrs who died for the freedom and territorial integrity of our lands was first commemorated with a minute of silence. Opening the event, General Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov said that both November 44 - Victory Day, which marked our victory in the Patriotic War and November 9 - Flag Day are significant events for our people. Mentioning the sensitivity of the topics in the events related to Victory Day, according to the academician, when assessing these events, it is our duty to remember the participants of the war, listen to them, listen to their memories. The hero we will talk about today is major Vusal Islam oglu Valiyev, who rose to the peak of martyrdom in the 44-day Patriotic War and served in the ground forces of the Azerbaijani army.
At the event the Executive Director of the Institute of Folklore, PhD, associate professor Afag Ramazanova also spoke about the 44-day Patriotic War. Remembering the martyrs and veterans of the First Karabakh war, she said that in general, all our heroes are unforgettable for us.
Later the word was given to martyr Major V.Valiyev’s comrade the senior lieutenant Gazanfar Dunyamaliyev, who was wounded in the 44-day Patriotic War. At the event the martyr Major V.Valiyev’s brother, leading researcher of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD Aposh Valiyev expressed great pride that he was the martyr's brother and spoke about the book “Revenge 44”, which he compiled. At the end, the participants of the event were presented the book “Revenge 44” dedicated to major Vusal Valiyev.
