International scientific conference on the theme
“Ashiq art and written literature” dedicated to the memory of
Ashiq Shamshir and Samad Vurgun was held

On the 13th of May in 2022 the international scientific conference on the theme “Ashiq art and written literature” dedicated to the memory of Ashiq Shamshir and Samad Vurgun was held in Gazakh city by the joint Organization of Gazakh region Executive Power, ANAS Institute of Folklore, Erzinjan Binali Yildirim University, BSU Gazakh branch and “Ashiq Shamshir” Cultural Center. The participants of the conference first visited the Alley of Martyrs. Later thinkers went to the park and laid the busts of Ashig Alasgar and Ashig Shamshir, as well as wreaths in front of the statue of Samad Vurgun. Later the participants visited the park “Mutfakkirler” and the exhibition of paintings at the museum of Literature.

Head of Gazakh region Executive Power Rajab Babashov, General Director of ANAS Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov, Director of BSU Gazakh branch, associate professor Arif Rustamov, Honored journalist Adil Jamil, chairman of Gazakh charity Public Union, professor Ilham Pirmammadov, chairman of Azerbaijan Journalists Union Elchin Shikhli and deputy chairman of “Ashiq Shamshir” Cultural Center Habib Misirov made opening speeches.

Some scientists made reports such as “National and moral values in Samad Vurgun’s literary heritage” by Professor Ali Kafkasyali, “Religious elements in the poems by Ashiq Shamshir and two works by Ashiq Shamshir” Professor Kubilay Kolukirik from Kirsehir Ahi Evran University, “Unity of saz with the word” by Professor Mahmud Kamaloglu from Ukraine-Georgia International University and “Psycho-poetic features of Ashiq Shamshir’s activity” by Honored culture worker Mishar Mammadov.

The speakers were awarded with certificates and prizes. Then the ceremony of awarding the winners of the poetry and painting contest took place. At the end of the plenary session the mutual symbolic gifts were presented.
The international scientific conference on the theme “Ashiq art and written literature” dedicated to the memory of Ashiq Shamshir and Samad Vurgun continued its work in sections. About eighty reports were listened at the sections held over the Zoom platform. It should be noted that, along with Azerbaijan, representatives from Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan also attended the conference.
